Hamilton sits on the Waikato River in the middle of the North Island's dairy country, and Wintec is its polytechnic. It was folded into the national Te Pūkenga network in 2020 and is being set up to run on its own again as that network is broken up. Courses are practical and job-focused: nursing, IT, engineering, business and trades. The main city campus is in central Hamilton, with trades and engineering at Rotokauri.

The main intake is in February, with a July start for many IT, engineering and business programmes.
A Fee Paying Student Visa from Immigration New Zealand. Show your offer, tuition payment and NZD 20,000 a year for living costs, plus medical and police certificates if asked.
Nursing, applied IT, engineering technology and the engineering diploma are the popular choices. Degrees need secondary school results comparable to NCEA University Entrance and IELTS 6.0, or 6.5 for nursing. Diplomas have lower entry requirements.
Wintec offers a small number of international scholarships and occasional fee discounts. Check its international pages close to your application date.
