Walla Walla sits in the far south-east corner of Washington, surrounded by wheat fields and vineyards, with the Blue Mountains on the horizon. Whitman College has about 1,500 students and no graduate programmes, so every class is taught for undergraduates. It's strong in the sciences, economics, politics and environmental studies, and in debate and outdoor programmes.

Whitman has early decision rounds in November and January, and regular decision in mid-January. International applicants seeking aid need to submit financial documents by the same dates.
New students start in August. Whitman does not normally admit first-years in spring.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from Whitman College first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
Economics, biology, politics, environmental studies and computer science are popular. Admission is holistic; international applicants need strong grades and English at around TOEFL 100 or IELTS 7.0.
Whitman offers need-based aid and merit awards to international students. Admission is need-aware for international applicants, so aid requests can affect decisions.
