BU Wheelock is Boston University's school of education. It formed in 2018, when the old Wheelock College, founded by Lucy Wheelock in 1888, merged into BU's School of Education. Students study teaching, educational policy, counselling, language education and human development on the Charles River Campus along Commonwealth Avenue. Most international students come for a master's or doctorate.

BU's campus runs in a long strip along Commonwealth Avenue beside the Charles River, and the Green Line B branch stops outside the main buildings. Kenmore Square and Fenway Park are at the eastern end.
Boston is compact and walkable, with dozens of universities and a large student population. It's expensive, especially rent, and winters are snowy, but internships and public transport are easy.

Master's and doctoral programmes usually have deadlines between December and March for fall entry. Some master's programmes admit on a rolling basis after the priority date. Undergraduates apply through BU's main deadlines.
Most programmes start in September. A few master's programmes also accept students for January or summer.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from Boston University first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
The TESOL, educational leadership and human development master's are popular with international students. You need a bachelor's degree, a statement of purpose and references. BU generally asks for IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 95; the GRE is usually not required.
BU Wheelock offers partial merit scholarships to some master's students. Doctoral students are often funded through the programme. Check the school's financial aid pages when you apply.
