Red tile roofs and white stucco walls give Valdosta State's main campus a Spanish Mission look that is unusual in south Georgia. The university opened its doors in 1913 as a women's college and is now a public university of around 10,000 students. Business, nursing, education and computer science are among its larger programmes. It's a short drive from the Florida state line.

Valdosta State reviews international applications on a rolling basis. Aim for about June for fall and October for spring so the I-20 and visa can be arranged.
The main intakes are fall (August) and spring (January), with summer terms for some courses.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from Valdosta State University after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Business, computer science, nursing and the MBA are popular. Undergraduates need a completed secondary record and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 69. Graduate programmes need a bachelor's degree and may ask for the GMAT or GRE.
Valdosta State offers some out-of-state tuition waivers and academic awards. Graduate assistantships exist in some departments. Ask international admissions what applies.
