Engineering is the backbone of UW-Platteville, which runs one of the largest undergraduate engineering programmes in Wisconsin. The town grew up on lead mining, and students still look after the giant white M on Platte Mound, first built by mining students in the 1930s. Alongside civil, mechanical and software engineering, the university teaches agriculture, criminal justice and education. It sits in the rolling farmland of south-west Wisconsin.

UW-Platteville reviews applications on a rolling basis. International applicants should apply by about June for fall and October for spring.
Most students start in fall (September), with spring (January) entry for many majors.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from University of Wisconsin-Platteville after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Civil, mechanical and software engineering are the main draws, along with agricultural business. Engineering applicants need solid maths and science grades and IELTS 6.0. The MS Engineering needs an engineering bachelor's degree.
UW-Platteville offers some scholarships to international undergraduates. Check with international admissions about current awards and tuition reductions.
