About an hour west of downtown Atlanta, Carrollton is a college town built around a courthouse square, and the University of West Georgia is its biggest employer. UWG began in 1906 as an agricultural school and now teaches around 12,000 students. Nursing, business, education and computer science carry most of the enrolment. The Richards College of Business and the Tanner Health System School of Nursing are the best-known parts of the university.

UWG admits international students on a rolling basis, but aim for about June for fall and October for spring. Nursing and some graduate programmes have their own earlier deadlines.
New students start in fall (August) or spring (January). Summer entry is possible for a few graduate programmes.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, University of West Georgia issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Business, computer science, nursing and the MBA are the common choices. Undergraduates need a completed secondary school record and around IELTS 6.0. Master's applicants need a bachelor's degree, and some programmes ask for the GRE or GMAT.
UWG offers a limited number of scholarships and out-of-state waivers. Graduate assistantships are available in some departments, so contact the programme coordinator early.
