Williamsburg is a small town in the Appalachian hills of south-east Kentucky, and University of the Cumberlands has been there since 1888 as a private Christian university. On the main campus it runs like a traditional small college, with sports teams and residence halls. Most international students, though, enrol in its graduate programmes in information technology, cybersecurity and business, which are largely delivered online with on-campus residencies. Check how your programme's format affects F-1 status and CPT before you commit.

Williamsburg is a small town on Interstate 75, within reach of Cumberland Falls State Resort Park and the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Costs are low, and campus life is quiet and shaped by the university's Christian identity. Knoxville, Tennessee, is about an hour south, and Lexington roughly two hours north.
Form I-20 issued by University of the Cumberlands
Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt
Completed DS-160 online application
US embassy or consulate interview
Passport valid six months beyond stay
Cumberlands admits graduate students for several terms a year on a rolling basis. International applicants should apply at least two to three months before the term starts. Undergraduate applications are also reviewed on a rolling basis.
Graduate programmes start several times a year, including spring, summer and fall sessions. Undergraduates mostly start in August or January.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, University of the Cumberlands issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Information technology, cybersecurity, the MBA and the PhD in IT draw most international applicants. Master's programmes need a bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 71. Before accepting, check the residency requirements and how the programme fits F-1 rules.
The university offers some undergraduate scholarships and athletic awards. Graduate tuition is already fairly low, and scholarships for international graduate students are limited.
