MD Anderson is best known as a cancer hospital, but it's also a degree-granting part of the University of Texas. Its School of Health Professions trains the technical staff that cancer care relies on, such as radiation therapists, imaging technologists and laboratory scientists. Most bachelor's programmes are upper-level, so you arrive with about two years of college credit already done, and clinical training happens inside the hospital. PhD research runs through a graduate school shared with UTHealth Houston.

MD Anderson's buildings are spread across the Texas Medical Center, served by METRORail's Red Line. Hermann Park, the zoo and the Museum District are a short walk away.
Houston is hot, humid and sprawling, and a car helps outside the rail corridor. Rent near the medical centre is moderate for a large US city.
Form I-20 issued by the institution
Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt
Completed DS-160 online application
US embassy or consulate interview
Passport valid six months beyond stay
Most School of Health Professions programmes open applications in the autumn and close early in the new year for an August start. Check each programme's date, and confirm with admissions that your programme accepts F-1 students before you apply.
Programmes start once a year, in late summer. There's no January intake.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from UT MD Anderson Cancer Center first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
Radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, medical laboratory science and molecular genetic technology are the main bachelor's programmes. You need about two years of college credit with set science prerequisites, and foreign transcripts must be evaluated. The genetics master's needs a relevant bachelor's degree.
Scholarships for international students are limited, though some programmes offer small awards after enrolment. PhD students in the joint graduate school are normally funded.
