Plant Hall, with its silver minarets, opened in 1891 as the Tampa Bay Hotel, and today it holds the University of Tampa's classrooms and offices. The private university sits on the Hillsborough River, directly across from downtown. The Sykes College of Business draws many international students, alongside marine science, nursing, film and cybersecurity.

Undergraduate applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and most students apply by early spring for fall. Graduate programmes set their own deadlines, usually in spring for fall. Allow time for the I-20 and visa interview.
Programmes start in fall (August) and spring (January).
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from University of Tampa after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
International business, marine science, the MBA, business analytics and cybersecurity are popular. Undergraduates need strong school grades; graduate programmes need a bachelor's degree. Most ask for IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80.
International undergraduates are considered for merit scholarships at admission. Graduate scholarships are more limited, so ask the admissions office.
