USI's campus is on the west side of Evansville, an Ohio River city in the corner of Indiana where the state meets Kentucky and Illinois. The university began in 1965 as a branch campus of Indiana State University and became independent in 1985. Nursing and the health professions, engineering, business and computer science are its big programmes. Most students live on or near campus, and tuition for out-of-state students is modest.

USI accepts international applications on a rolling basis. Apply by about June for fall and October for spring, allowing time for the I-20 and visa interview.
Most programmes start in fall (August) and spring (January). Nursing admits students into its programme on its own schedule.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from University of Southern Indiana after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Nursing, engineering, computer science and the MBA are popular. Undergraduates need secondary school results and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 61, with higher scores for nursing. The MBA needs a bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5.
USI offers some scholarships for international undergraduates and graduate assistantships in a few departments. Check the international admissions page for current amounts.
