Undergraduate applications go through UCAS and the equal-consideration deadline is 14 January 2027 for September 2027 entry. Most taught Master's courses take applications on a rolling basis until they fill, so apply by spring for the best chance of a place and accommodation.
Almost all courses start in September. A small number of taught Master's courses, mainly in management and engineering, offer a January start. Check the course page, as January intakes vary each year.
You need a Student route visa. Sheffield issues a CAS once you accept an unconditional offer and pay the deposit, and you apply online up to six months before your course starts. Budget for the Immigration Health Surcharge alongside the visa fee.
Engineering, computer science, journalism and management are the most applied-for subjects. Most Master's courses ask for a 2:1 or equivalent and IELTS 6.5, with journalism requiring 7.5. Undergraduate entry is typically AAB to ABB or equivalent, including a 60-70% score for CBSE students.
Yes. The International Merit Undergraduate Scholarship and the International Merit Postgraduate Taught Scholarship each cut tuition fees by 25% for high-achieving applicants. Both are competitive and need a separate application, so check the funding pages for the current closing dates.
