Scranton grew rich on coal and railroads, and the University of Scranton has been part of the city since 1888. It's a Jesuit university in north-east Pennsylvania with about 5,000 students, known for its Kania School of Management, nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Campus spreads over a few blocks just east of downtown. Fans of the TV series The Office will know the city's name.
