UQAM's buildings are scattered through Montreal's Quartier latin, with Berri-UQAM metro station, where three lines meet, underneath. Opened in 1969, it's the largest university in the Université du Québec network and teaches in French. Business at ESG UQAM, communication, design, the arts and the social sciences are its strengths. The neo-Gothic facade and bell tower of the old Saint-Jacques church are built into its main pavilion.

Campus sits between the Quartier latin and the Quartier des spectacles, where summer festivals take over the streets. Rue Saint-Denis has cafes and cheap food.
Montreal rent is lower than in Toronto or Vancouver, though it has risen. Winters are cold, but the underground city and the metro keep daily life moving.

For September entry, international applicants usually need to apply by 1 February; for January, by 1 September. Some programmes close earlier, and others stay open if places remain. Allow several months for the CAQ and study permit.
Most programmes start in September, and many also admit in January. Some graduate programmes offer a summer start.
You need a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and then a Canadian study permit, supported by the letter of acceptance from UQAM. Apply online to IRCC with proof of funds and biometrics.
Business administration, communication, political science, management and computer science are popular. Teaching is in French, so expect to show B2 French, often with a TCF or TEF. Some design and arts programmes also ask for a portfolio or interview.
UQAM offers exemption bursaries that lower international fees for some students, plus graduate awards through faculties and research supervisors. Check UQAM's financial aid pages for current awards.
