Ontario Tech University, legally the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, took its first students in 2003 on a north Oshawa campus it shares with Durham College. Engineering, computer science, health science and business make up most of its teaching. It's one of the few Canadian universities with a nuclear engineering degree, and the Darlington nuclear station is just down the road.

Undergraduates apply through OUAC, ideally by January for September entry; programmes with space left accept later applications. Graduate deadlines vary by programme, often from January to spring.
Most programmes start in September. A few graduate and undergraduate programmes also admit in January.
A Canadian study permit. Start with the letter of acceptance from University of Ontario Institute of Technology and, where required, the provincial attestation letter, then apply to IRCC online. Allow a few months, as processing times vary by country.
Mechatronics, nuclear engineering, computer science and commerce are popular. Undergraduate entry needs high school results with maths and science for engineering, plus IELTS 6.5. Graduate programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree.
Ontario Tech gives entrance scholarships to international undergraduates with strong grades. Graduate students may receive research funding through their supervisor.
