A short drive north-east of downtown Oklahoma City, the University of Oklahoma's health campus holds its colleges of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, allied health and public health, plus a graduate college. It sits beside the OU Health hospitals and the Stephenson Cancer Center. International students mostly come for graduate study in public health, biostatistics and the biomedical sciences. Professional programmes such as medicine and dentistry take very few non-US applicants.

The campus is in the medical district near the State Capitol. Bricktown's canal, restaurants and baseball stadium are a short drive away.
Oklahoma City is spread out and car-dependent, but rent is low for a state capital. Spring brings severe storms and tornado warnings, so learn the local alert systems early.

Deadlines depend on the college and programme. Many graduate programmes set dates between December and March for August entry, and PhD programmes often close first. International applicants should apply early to allow for credential evaluation and the I-20.
Almost all programmes start in August. A few graduate programmes allow a January or summer start.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, University of Oklahoma issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Public health, biostatistics, epidemiology and biomedical PhD programmes attract most international students. Master's programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79. PhD applicants need research experience, and professional degrees have long prerequisite lists.
PhD students are usually funded through research assistantships that cover tuition and pay a stipend. Master's funding is more limited, though some departments offer part-time research posts. Ask each college directly.
