Much of UNF's campus is a nature preserve. Trails and lakes run through pine forest on Jacksonville's Southside, and it isn't unusual to see gopher tortoises beside the paths. The university opened to students in 1972 and belongs to the State University System of Florida. Its Coggin College of Business, nursing and computing programmes are popular with international students, and the Atlantic beaches are about twenty minutes away.

Jacksonville covers a huge area and is very car-dependent, so many students buy a used car. The St. Johns River cuts through the city, and downtown sits on its banks.
Rent is lower than in Miami or Orlando. Summers are hot and stormy and winters mild. Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach are an easy drive east of campus.

UNF accepts international applications through the year. For fall, apply by about May; for spring, by about October. Graduate programmes may close earlier, so check each programme's page.
Programmes start in fall (August) and spring (January). A few graduate programmes admit only in the fall.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from University of North Florida first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
Computer science, information technology, logistics, nursing and the MBA are popular. Undergraduates need secondary school results and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 61. Master's programmes need a bachelor's degree, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80, and sometimes the GRE or GMAT.
UNF has a small number of scholarships and out-of-state fee waivers for international students. Graduate assistantships are available in some departments; ask about them when you apply.
