Shippagan is a fishing town on the Acadian Peninsula, in north-east New Brunswick, where lobster and crab boats unload in the harbour. The Université de Moncton's campus here is the smallest of its three and teaches in French. Its programmes lean towards the sea, with coastal zone management and a coastal research institute, alongside nursing, business administration and first-year studies.

Shippagan is a small town of under 3,000 people, with sea on three sides, a harbour, a marine aquarium and long beaches nearby on Lamèque and Miscou islands.
Life is quiet, French-speaking and cheap, though winter can feel isolated. Bathurst is a little over an hour away, and Moncton about three hours south.

Apply by early spring for September so there's time for the study permit. Places are limited because the campus is small.
Programmes start in September.
A Canadian study permit. Start with the letter of acceptance from Université de Moncton and, where required, the provincial attestation letter, then apply to IRCC online. Allow a few months, as processing times vary by country.
Coastal zone management, nursing, business administration and first-year science are the main options. All teaching is in French, so you'll need strong French and completed secondary school with the right subjects.
The Université de Moncton's entrance scholarships apply here too, and some fee reductions exist for students from partner francophone countries. Ask the campus about local awards.
