King's started in Windsor, Nova Scotia, in 1789, which makes it Canada's oldest chartered university, and moved to Halifax after a fire in 1920. It's a small college on the edge of Dalhousie University's campus. Most first-years take the Foundation Year Programme, a year of reading the great books of Western thought in lectures and small tutorials. Its journalism school is one of the best known in Canada.
