Detroit Mercy's main McNichols campus is on the city's north-west side, on the road locals still call Six Mile. The university took its current form in 1990, when the Jesuit University of Detroit merged with Mercy College of Detroit. Engineering students complete required co-op placements, many with carmakers and their suppliers. The law school is downtown, and the dental school is in Corktown.

Downtown Detroit has changed a lot in the last decade, with the Riverwalk, Campus Martius and new restaurants. The McNichols campus is in a residential part of the city, about 20 minutes' drive from downtown.
Rent is low for a major US city, but you'll want a car, since public transport is limited. Windsor, Canada, is just across the river.

Detroit Mercy reviews international applications on a rolling basis. Aim to apply by about June for fall and October for winter, and earlier for graduate engineering.
Most programmes start in fall (August) or winter (January). Some graduate programmes also admit in summer.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from University of Detroit Mercy after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science, the MBA and nursing are popular. Graduate programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5; undergraduate entry uses school grades and IELTS 6.0.
Yes. Detroit Mercy gives merit scholarships to most undergraduates, international students included, and some graduate programmes offer tuition discounts or assistantships.
