Getting into a University of Brighton degree doesn't always mean starting in the first year. The University of Brighton International College, run with the education group Navitas, teaches foundation, first-year diploma and pre-master's programmes for students who don't yet meet direct entry. Pass at the required grade and you move on into the matching degree. Classes are smaller, and English support is part of the timetable.

Life in a seaside city with a large student population.
Most students progress into a University of Brighton degree after passing.
The pathway is a step towards a degree rather than a qualification employers hire on.

Brighton is a seaside city with a pebble beach, the Palace Pier and the narrow streets of the Lanes and North Laine, full of cafés and small shops. Two universities give it a large student population.
Rent is high by UK standards outside London. Trains reach London Victoria in about an hour, and Gatwick Airport is half an hour up the line.
CAS from University of Brighton
Proof of funds for fees and living costs
English test at B2 level or above
TB test certificate, if required
Immigration Health Surcharge payment
Valid passport with blank pages
The college accepts applications through the year, but places on each intake can fill. Apply at least two to three months before the start date to leave time for the CAS and visa.
Pathway programmes usually start in September and January. Check whether your programme has any other start dates.
You'll apply for a Student visa. University of Brighton gives you a CAS number once your offer is unconditional and the deposit is paid. You can then apply online up to six months before the course starts, with bank evidence and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Business, computing and engineering pathways are the most common, along with the business pre-master's. Foundation entry needs completed secondary school and around IELTS 5.0 to 5.5; the pre-master's needs a bachelor's degree.
Scholarships on pathway fees are offered from time to time. Once you progress, you may also be eligible for University of Brighton awards for international students, so check both.
