Dubai International Academic City is home to the University of Birmingham's first overseas campus, which took its first students in 2018 and moved into a purpose-built building in 2021. Students earn the same Birmingham degree awarded in Edgbaston, taught to the UK curriculum. Computer science, business, law, psychology and engineering fill most of the timetable. Fees are set in dirhams.

Academic City sits inland on the edge of the desert, about 25 minutes by car from Downtown Dubai. Many students share flats in nearby Dubai Silicon Oasis or live in student housing close to campus.
Dubai has no income tax, and summer heat pushes life indoors from June to September. Rent is the big cost; groceries and transport stay manageable if you avoid taxis.
Offer letter from University of Birmingham Dubai
Proof of tuition fee payment
Student residence visa sponsored by institution
UAE medical fitness test
Emirates ID registration
Passport valid at least six months
Applications for September open the year before. Undergraduates and master's applicants apply online direct to the Dubai campus. Popular courses fill, so aim to apply by spring and leave time for the residence visa.
Almost every programme starts in September, following the UK academic year.
University of Birmingham Dubai sponsors your student residence visa after enrolment. The rest is local paperwork: a medical test and your Emirates ID.
Computer science, business management, law and mechanical engineering are the main undergraduate choices, and the MSc International Business is popular at postgraduate level. Undergraduates need strong high school or A-level grades, and most courses ask for IELTS 6.0 to 7.0.
Yes. The Dubai campus offers merit scholarships that take a percentage off tuition, based on academic results. Amounts change each year, so check the current list before you apply.
