The College of New Jersey sits on a leafy campus in Ewing Township, between Trenton and Princeton. It began in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School and took its present name in 1996. Today it's a public college of about 7,000 students, most of them undergraduates, and one of the more selective public colleges in the north-east. Engineering, nursing, business and teacher education are strong.

Ewing is suburban and quiet. From Trenton station, NJ Transit trains reach New York in about 90 minutes and SEPTA trains run to Philadelphia. Princeton is about 20 minutes away.

Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt

TCNJ has an Early Decision deadline in November and a regular deadline in January. International students apply through the Common Application and should send financial documents promptly so the I-20 can be issued.
New students start in fall (late August). Spring entry is limited to some transfer students.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, The College of New Jersey issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Engineering, computer science, finance, nursing and biology are popular. You need strong secondary school results, recommendations and English at about IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80. Nursing has limited places.
TCNJ offers some merit scholarships, but aid for international students is limited, so plan to fund most of your costs. Check the admissions pages for current awards.
