The 5,200-acre campus is a small city in itself, with its own bus system, the Memorial Student Center at its heart and Kyle Field and the engineering complex on the east side.
College Station and its twin city Bryan exist largely around the university. Rent is low, Houston is 90 minutes away by car, and Austin about two hours.

For fall 2027 undergraduate entry, applications close on 1 December 2026 through ApplyTexas or the Common App; there is no early round. Graduate deadlines vary by department, with most engineering and computer science master's programmes closing between 1 December and 15 January for fall.
Undergraduates start in the fall (late August). Many engineering and computer science master's programmes also admit for spring (January), while the Mays MBA and business master's are fall only. Check your programme's admissions page to confirm.
You need an F-1 student visa. International Student and Scholar Services issues your Form I-20 after you accept the offer and submit proof of funding. Then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Computer science, electrical engineering, petroleum engineering, business analytics and the Mays MBA attract the most international applicants. Graduate admission needs a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0, TOEFL 80-100 or IELTS 6.5-7.0, and the GRE for many engineering programmes.
Yes, and one is unusually valuable: an international student who wins a competitive Texas A&M scholarship of at least USD 1,000 becomes eligible to pay in-state tuition, cutting fees by more than half. Graduate students can also seek assistantships. Check the scholarships office for current awards and deadlines.
