Most students live on campus, and the lakeside residence halls look straight out over the water. Winters bring heavy lake-effect snow, so good boots matter.
Oswego is a small port city on the Oswego River. Syracuse, about 40 miles south, has the airport and more jobs, and Centro buses connect it with campus.

Oswego reviews international applications on a rolling basis. Apply by about May for fall and November for spring so there is time for the I-20 and the visa appointment.
Students start in fall (late August) or spring (January). Meteorology and engineering usually begin in fall.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from SUNY Oswego after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Broadcasting, meteorology, computer science, engineering and the MBA attract many international students. Undergraduates need secondary school results and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 70. The MBA needs a bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5.
Oswego awards merit scholarships to international students at admission, based on academic results. Check the international admissions page for current amounts.
