Edwardsville is a small town with a historic Main Street and modest rents. First-year students mostly live on campus, and older students often move into the Cougar Village apartments.
St. Louis is across the river for baseball at Busch Stadium, the free museums in Forest Park and the airport. Rail doesn't reach campus, so a car or the county buses help.

SIUE reviews international applications on a rolling basis. Apply by about May for fall or October for spring so the I-20 and visa interview can be arranged in time. Some graduate programmes close earlier when they fill.
Most programmes start in fall (August) or spring (January). A few graduate courses also admit in summer.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Computer science, electrical and industrial engineering and the MBA attract the most international students. Graduate programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79. Undergraduates need secondary school completion and an English test.
SIUE offers merit scholarships to international undergraduates and a limited number of graduate assistantships, which may include a tuition waiver. Ask your department about assistantships as soon as you are admitted.
