École de technologie supérieure, known as ÉTS, is the engineering school of the Université du Québec network. Its buildings sit on Notre-Dame Street at the corner of Peel, on the edge of Griffintown and a few minutes from the Lachine Canal. Teaching is in French and very applied. Bachelor's students complete paid internships in industry as part of the degree.

The campus spreads across several buildings in Griffintown, a former industrial district now full of condos. Bonaventure metro and the Lachine Canal bike path are close.
Montreal is cheaper than Toronto or Vancouver. French is the working language, winters are long and cold, and the city stays lively through its summer festivals.
Letter of acceptance from ÉTS
Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ)
Proof of funds for tuition and living
Online IRCC study permit application
Medical exam, if requested
Valid passport and biometrics
For September entry, international students should apply by early winter. Deadlines for January and May are earlier than you might expect because the CAQ and study permit take months.
ÉTS admits students in fall, winter and summer, though not every programme opens each session.
You need a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and then a Canadian study permit, supported by the letter of acceptance from ÉTS. Apply online to IRCC with proof of funds and biometrics.
Software, mechanical and construction engineering are the most popular bachelor's programmes, alongside the master's in engineering. All require good French. Bachelor's entry needs a relevant technical or science background.
ÉTS and the Quebec government offer some awards and fee exemptions to international students, including reduced rates for French citizens. Check the international page for current details.
