International undergraduate applications through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre close on 1 February 2027 for September 2027 entry, with supporting documents due by early March. Graduate deadlines are set by each programme: most research master's close in January or February, and Smith's professional master's run rounds from autumn to spring.
September is the main intake for all undergraduate programmes and most graduate degrees. Course-based engineering master's degrees admit for September, January and May, Smith's management analytics and AI master's start in July, and the Smith MBA starts in January. Check your programme's page to confirm.
You need a Canadian study permit. After you accept your offer, the university issues a letter of acceptance and Ontario's provincial attestation letter. You then apply online to IRCC with proof of funds and give biometrics. Allow three to four months for processing.
Management analytics, management in AI, electrical and computer engineering, computing and the Smith MBA attract the most international applicants. Master's entry needs a four-year bachelor's degree with a B+ average or equivalent, TOEFL 88-100 or IELTS 7.0, and the GMAT or GRE for Smith programmes. Smith Commerce is highly selective.
Yes. International undergraduates are automatically considered for admission scholarships based on their average, and can apply for the Principal's Scholarship and the Chancellor's Scholarship, which need a separate application. Graduate students receive funding packages in most research programmes and can apply for Smith's merit awards.
