An aerial tram carries students and patients between OHSU's hilltop hospitals on Marquam Hill and its newer buildings on the South Waterfront. Oregon Health & Science University is the state's public academic health centre, with schools of medicine, nursing, dentistry and public health, and the Knight Cancer Institute. Almost all its students are in graduate and professional programmes. It's also one of Portland's largest employers.

Deadlines differ by programme. The MD uses AMCAS with autumn deadlines a year ahead. PhD programmes usually close in December, and public health and informatics master's programmes run into winter or spring for September entry.
Most graduate programmes start in September. The MD starts in August.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from Oregon Health & Science University after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Public health, biomedical informatics, biostatistics and the PhD programmes are the likeliest routes for international students. You need a relevant bachelor's degree and TOEFL results. The MD has limited places for non-US applicants, so check eligibility first.
PhD students are usually funded with a stipend and tuition waiver. Master's scholarships for international students are limited, so ask each programme.
