Niagara College's Welland campus is its larger teaching site for health, community services and technical programmes, while the wine and culinary courses sit at Niagara-on-the-Lake. It has student residences, trades and technology labs and a lower cost of living than the Toronto area. Toronto is about 90 minutes away by car.

Welland is a small city built around its canal, where ships pass through between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The old channel downtown is used for rowing and paddling.
Rent is lower than in most of southern Ontario. Niagara Falls is about 20 minutes away and St. Catharines is close.

Niagara College takes applications on a rolling basis. Apply six to eight months ahead, as popular programmes fill early and you'll need time for the study permit.
Most programmes start in September, with some also in January or May.

Computer programming, electrical engineering technician, practical nursing and early childhood education are among the diplomas taught at Welland.
