Most students at New Zealand Management Academies, better known as NZMA, want a job at the end of it rather than a research career. The private training establishment teaches short, practical diplomas in cookery, hospitality, business and health, with its main campuses in Auckland. Much of the learning happens in training kitchens and practice restaurants.

Auckland spreads across volcanic cones and two harbours. Ferries run from downtown to Devonport and Waiheke Island, and beaches are never far.
It's New Zealand's most expensive city. Most students share houses and rely on buses and trains, since parking costs add up.

NZMA takes applications all year. Apply at least three months before your start date so there's time for the student visa.
NZMA runs several intakes a year. February and July are the most common for international students.
You'll apply online to Immigration New Zealand for a Fee Paying Student Visa. Budget time for the chest X-ray and medical, which some nationalities need.
Cookery, hospitality management, business and health diplomas are popular. Entry usually needs a finished secondary education, with IELTS 5.5 for most diplomas and 6.0 for higher levels.
Scholarships are occasional. Ask NZMA directly about current fee offers for international students.
