The Organ Mountains fill the eastern skyline over New Mexico State University's main campus in Las Cruces. Founded in 1888, NMSU is the state's land-grant university and a Hispanic-Serving Institution, about an hour from El Paso. Engineering and agriculture are its traditional strengths. Aerospace work at White Sands and Spaceport America gives students unusual internship options.
