Two institutes merged on 1 January 2021 to form Munster Technological University: Cork Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology Tralee. The biggest site is the Bishopstown campus in Cork, and Kerry students study in Tralee. MTU also runs the Crawford College of Art and Design, the Cork School of Music and the National Maritime College of Ireland at Ringaskiddy. Courses lean practical, with work placements built in.

Non-EU students apply directly to MTU. Taught master's applications are rolling, but popular computing courses fill up, so apply by spring for September and allow time for the visa.
Most courses start in September. A few master's programmes also take a January intake.
Most non-EU students need a D study visa for Ireland. The key documents are the acceptance letter, fee receipt, bank statements showing EUR 10,000 and private health insurance. You register for an IRP once you're in the country.
Cloud computing, data science, cybersecurity, mechanical engineering and software development are popular. Master's courses usually need a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent in a related subject and IELTS 6.5; undergraduate entry is based on school results and IELTS 6.0.
MTU offers some merit scholarships for non-EU students, usually as a fee reduction. Check the international office's current list before you apply.
