Undergraduate admission is rolling, with a 1 November 2026 Early Action deadline for fall 2027 that also gives priority for scholarships; applications stay open into spring while places last. Graduate deadlines are set by each programme, with most closing between December and February.
Undergraduates can start in fall (August) or spring (January), though fall is the main intake. Many engineering and computer science master's programmes also admit for spring, while Broad's MBA and business master's are fall only. Check your programme's page.
You need an F-1 student visa. The Office for International Students and Scholars issues your Form I-20 after you accept the offer and submit proof of funding. Then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and book an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Computer science, supply chain management, business analytics, electrical and computer engineering and the Broad MBA attract the most international applicants. Graduate admission needs a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0, TOEFL 80-100 or IELTS 6.5-7.0, and the GRE or GMAT for some programmes.
Michigan State offers a limited number of merit scholarships to international undergraduates, considered automatically if you apply by the Early Action deadline; need-based aid is not available. Graduate students can apply for teaching and research assistantships, which waive tuition and pay a stipend in many departments.
