Founded by Sir Patrick Manson in 1899, LSHTM is a postgraduate school of public and global health in Bloomsbury. Its art deco building on Keppel Street carries the names of public health pioneers above the windows. Students come for MSc courses in epidemiology, public health, infectious diseases and health policy. Much of the research runs through partner units in The Gambia and Uganda.
