Istituto Marangoni began in Milan in 1935 as a school for tailors. The Paris school is one of several around the world, and it teaches fashion design, fashion business, styling and luxury management. Courses are practical and built around a portfolio. Paris Fashion Week happens on the doorstep twice a year.

Paris gives fashion students a lot to work with: showrooms in the Marais, department stores on Boulevard Haussmann and two fashion weeks a year.
It is expensive. Most students share flats or take small studios, and cheap museum entry for under-26s helps.

Istituto Marangoni reviews applications on a rolling basis, and popular courses fill early. Non-EU applicants should apply at least six months ahead to allow for Campus France and the visa.
Most courses start in October, with a smaller January start for some programmes. Short courses run through the year.
The VLS-TS student visa. Expect to go through Campus France first, including an interview in many countries, before the consulate appointment.
Fashion design, fashion business, styling and luxury brand management are the main draws. Undergraduates need a school-leaving certificate and a portfolio for design; master's applicants need a degree plus a portfolio or CV. English around IELTS 5.5 to 6.0.
The school runs scholarship competitions most years, often judged on a project brief. Check the Istituto Marangoni site for current calls.
