IU campuses are modern city teaching sites with classrooms and study spaces rather than residential campuses, so students rent shared flats.
Campus cities range from Berlin and Munich to smaller cities with lower rent, and Germany's rail network links them all.
Admission letter from IU
Blocked account for living costs
German-recognised health insurance
APS certificate for applicants from India
English test at required level
Valid passport and national visa form
IU accepts applications on a rolling basis. Non-EU applicants should apply by May 2027 for October and by December 2026 for April, to leave time for the blocked account and German visa.
On-campus programmes start in October and April, including computer science, data science and the MBA.
You need a German national student visa for on-campus study. Apply with your admission letter, a blocked account, health insurance and, for Indian applicants, an APS certificate. Online study does not qualify for a visa.
Computer science, data science, the MBA and undergraduate computer science are popular. Master's entry needs a relevant bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.0.
IU often offers tuition scholarships and discounts for international students. Check the university's website for current offers.
