Despite the name, IUP has nothing to do with the state of Indiana. It sits in the town of Indiana, Pennsylvania, about 60 miles north-east of Pittsburgh, and is part of the state's public university system. It began in 1875 as a teacher-training school. Safety sciences, criminology, nursing and business are among its stronger programmes.

IUP reviews international applications on a rolling basis. Aim for May for fall and October for spring so there is time for the I-20.
Most programmes start in fall and spring.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from Indiana University of Pennsylvania after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Safety sciences, the MBA, computer science and criminology are popular with international students. Graduate programmes need a bachelor's degree and IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79.
IUP offers some international merit scholarships and graduate assistantships. Ask the Office of International Education.
