Hialeah, just north-west of Miami, is one of the most Spanish-speaking cities in the US, and Florida National University fits right in. Founded in 1982, FNU is a small private university with campuses in Hialeah and South Miami. It teaches nursing, health sciences, business and IT, plus English language courses for students who need them first. Many classes run in the evening for working students.

Hialeah is a working-class city with a large Cuban community, bakeries and cafecito windows everywhere. Spanish is heard more than English.
Miami's beaches, airport and downtown are a short drive away. Rent across Miami-Dade is high, so many students share.
Form I-20 issued by FNU
Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt
Completed DS-160 online application
US embassy or consulate interview
Passport valid six months beyond stay
FNU admits students on a rolling basis for each term. Apply three to four months before the start date for the I-20 and visa.
Terms start in January, May and August.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from FNU first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
Nursing, health services administration, the MBA and ESL are popular. Degree entry needs secondary school or bachelor's completion and English scores, or completion of FNU's ESL programme.
FNU offers some institutional scholarships. Ask admissions which ones are open to international students.
