Springfield, Missouri calls itself the birthplace of Route 66, and Drury has been teaching near its old downtown since 1873. It's a private university of a few thousand students. The Hammons School of Architecture runs a five-year professional architecture degree, and the Breech School of Business is the other big draw. Classes are small and taught by professors.
