The De La Salle Christian Brothers opened this school in Memphis in 1871, and it is still a small Catholic university in the Lasallian tradition. The campus is on East Parkway in Midtown. Engineering is the best-known part of CBU, alongside business, the sciences and a physician assistant programme. Classes are small, and professors teach them rather than graduate assistants.

Memphis is a Mississippi River city built on music and freight. FedEx runs its global air hub at the airport, and Beale Street and Overton Park are short drives from campus.
Living costs are low for a US city. Many students share apartments in Midtown, and a car helps, as buses are limited.

CBU reviews applications on a rolling basis. International students should apply by June for fall and by October for spring to leave time for the I-20 and visa.
Most programmes start in fall (August) and spring (January). A few graduate courses also take summer starters.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, Christian Brothers University issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Mechanical and chemical engineering, computer science, the MBA and engineering management draw many international students. Undergraduates need good school grades and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79. Graduate programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree.
Yes. CBU gives merit scholarships to most undergraduates, and international students are considered automatically when they apply. Graduate awards are more limited.
