Brooklyn Law School has taught law in Brooklyn since 1901, and its main building at 250 Joralemon Street is next to Borough Hall, a short walk from the state and federal courts. It's an independent law school with JD and LLM programmes. Business law, intellectual property and clinical work for real clients are among its strengths. Lawyers trained outside the US can take an LLM on the way to the New York bar exam.

The school is across from Borough Hall, with a dozen subway lines within a few blocks and Manhattan one stop across the river. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade, with its skyline views, is a short walk.
The school has its own student housing, but Brooklyn rents are high. Many students share apartments further out in Brooklyn or Queens.

JD applications open in the autumn and are reviewed on a rolling basis up to a spring deadline, and applying by winter gives the best chance of a scholarship. The LLM also admits on a rolling basis. Apply early to leave time for the I-20.
The JD and LLM start in August.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from Brooklyn Law School first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
The JD is the main programme, with concentrations such as business law and intellectual property. It needs a bachelor's degree and an LSAT or GRE score, applied through LSAC. The LLM needs a first law degree from outside the US and TOEFL 90 or IELTS 7.0.
Brooklyn Law gives merit scholarships to many JD students at admission, and international applicants are considered. LLM students may receive partial scholarships.
