Bridgewater State opened in 1840 as one of the first public teacher-training schools in the country, and education is still one of its strengths. It's now the largest of the Massachusetts state universities, about 30 miles south of Boston, with a commuter rail stop right on campus. Aviation science, criminal justice, business and education draw many students.

Bridgewater State reviews undergraduate applications on a rolling basis, with earlier priority dates for scholarships. Graduate programmes set their own deadlines. International students should apply four to six months ahead.
Most programmes start in September, and many also admit in January.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from Bridgewater State University after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Aviation science, business management, criminal justice, computer science and the MBA are popular. Undergraduates need school results and TOEFL 70 or IELTS 6.0. Aviation students also need to pass an FAA medical exam.
Bridgewater State has a small number of scholarships open to international students, and tuition is lower than at private Boston universities. Ask admissions about current awards.
