Martha Berry started a school for rural children in north-west Georgia in 1902, and it grew into Berry College, which now covers about 27,000 acres of forest, fields and lakes. It's often called the largest college campus in the world. Deer graze past the Gothic Ford buildings, which Henry Ford paid for. Students work on campus through a well-organised work programme, and animal science, business and the sciences are popular.

The main campus is just north of Rome, a small city where the Etowah and Oostanaula rivers meet to form the Coosa. The mountain campus and its lakes are part of the college's own land.
Atlanta is about 90 minutes south-east. Almost all students live on campus, and everyday costs in Rome are low.

Berry offers early action in the autumn and a later regular deadline. International applicants should aim for early action, since scholarships and aid are decided early. Leave time for the I-20 after admission.
Nearly all students start in August.
International students come in on an F-1 visa. The I-20 comes from Berry College after you confirm your place and show you can cover a year of costs; you then pay the SEVIS fee, fill in the DS-160 and book your consulate interview.
Animal science, business, biology, nursing and psychology are popular. Admission looks at school grades and TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5, and the work programme is part of the offer.
Berry gives merit scholarships to most admitted students, international students included, and campus work pay helps with costs. Most students pay well below the listed tuition.
