The university has no residences, so students rent rooms privately or in student housing across the city. The U-Bahn, S-Bahn and trams cover every district.
Berlin is large and relaxed, with parks, lakes and a strong creative scene. Rent has risen fast, so start looking for a room early.
Admission letter from the institution
Blocked account for living costs
German-recognised health insurance
APS certificate for applicants from India
English test at required level
Valid passport and national visa form
Deadlines are usually in summer for the October intake and in winter for April. Non-EU students should apply earlier to allow for the visa appointment and blocked account.
There are two intakes: the winter semester in October and the summer semester in April.
You'll need a national visa for study. The blocked account is the part people forget to open in time, so start it as soon as the admission letter arrives. Indian applicants also need an APS certificate.
Architecture, interior architecture, business administration and computer science are the main programmes. Entry needs a school certificate recognised for German university entry and IELTS 6.0. Design programmes may ask for a portfolio.
The university offers some scholarships and fee reductions. Ask admissions about current options.
