On the banks of the Rock River, right at the Illinois border, Beloit College has been teaching liberal arts since 1846. It is small, with around 1,000 students, and has two campus museums: the Logan Museum of Anthropology and the Wright Museum of Art. Its Powerhouse, a former power plant converted into a student centre and gym, is a local landmark. International students make up a large share of the student body.
