Baruch sits mostly inside one tall building on Lexington Avenue at 24th Street, which says a lot about how it works: a City University of New York college squeezed into Manhattan and busy from early morning until late evening. Most students come for business. The Zicklin School of Business is one of the largest in the country, and the Baruch MFE in financial engineering has a strong name with Wall Street quant desks. Public tuition keeps the bill well below private New York schools.

There's no traditional quad. Students move between the vertical campus and older buildings on 23rd and 25th Streets, with the 6 train at the corner and Madison Square Park a few blocks west.
College housing is limited, so most international students rent shared flats in Queens, Brooklyn or upper Manhattan and commute in. New York rents are steep. Budget carefully before you arrive.
Form I-20 issued by Baruch College
Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt
Completed DS-160 online application
US embassy or consulate interview
Passport valid six months beyond stay
Undergraduates apply through the CUNY application, and international applicants should aim for 1 February for fall. Zicklin's graduate programmes set their own deadlines, with most fall applications due in spring. Leave time for the I-20 after admission.
Fall is the main start. Undergraduates can also begin in spring, and a few graduate programmes admit in January.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from Baruch College first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
Finance, accountancy, business analytics, financial engineering and the MBA draw most international students. Undergraduates need strong school results and TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5. Graduate programmes ask for a bachelor's degree, higher English scores and, for several, the GMAT or GRE.
Scholarships for international students are limited, since most CUNY aid is reserved for state residents. Some graduate programmes award partial merit scholarships, and assistantships come up now and then. The low public tuition is the main saving.
