The Medical College of Georgia opened in 1828, and today it anchors Augusta University, the state's public health sciences university. Alongside medicine there are dental, nursing and allied health colleges, the Hull College of Business, and a School of Computer and Cyber Sciences housed at the Georgia Cyber Center on the river. Most people know the city for the Masters golf tournament.

Augusta sits on the Savannah River facing South Carolina, with a riverwalk and restaurants along Broad Street downtown. The Summerville campus is in a quieter hilltop neighbourhood.
Rent is low by US standards. Atlanta is about two and a half hours west by car, and the city fills up during Masters week in April.
Form I-20 issued by Augusta University
Proof of funds for one academic year
SEVIS I-901 fee payment receipt
Completed DS-160 online application
US embassy or consulate interview
Passport valid six months beyond stay
Undergraduate applicants should apply by early spring for fall entry; graduate deadlines vary by programme. International students should apply early to leave time for the I-20 and visa interview.
Most programmes start in August, and many also admit in January.
You'll need an F-1 visa. Once you accept your offer and send proof of funding, Augusta University issues the Form I-20. After that it's the SEVIS fee, the DS-160 form and an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Cybersecurity, computer science, nursing and business are popular with international students. Undergraduates need school grades and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 71; graduate programmes need a bachelor's degree and usually IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79.
Scholarships for international students are limited. Some departments offer graduate assistantships, so ask your programme directly.
