Founded in 1839, Albany Medical College is one of the oldest medical schools in the United States. It's part of Albany Med, the academic health system for north-eastern New York. Alongside the MD, it trains physician assistants and runs graduate research programmes. International students most often join the PhD programmes, as MD places for non-US applicants are very limited.

Albany is New York's state capital, on the Hudson River. It's cheaper than New York City, which is about two and a half hours by Amtrak.

MD applicants apply through AMCAS in the autumn before entry. The PA programme uses CASPA. PhD and bioethics programmes set their own deadlines, so check each programme page.
The MD and PhD programmes start in August. The PA programme has its own start date, and the bioethics programmes run mostly online.
It's the F-1 student visa. Get your I-20 from Albany Medical College first (they need your deposit and bank documents), then pay the SEVIS fee, complete the DS-160 and attend the visa interview. Book the interview early in peak season.
The MD, physician assistant, biomedical sciences PhD and bioethics programmes are the main options. MD applicants need the MCAT and prerequisite coursework, usually completed at a US or Canadian institution. Online bioethics study does not qualify for an F-1 visa.
Albany Medical College has limited scholarship funds, and international students are not eligible for US federal loans. PhD students are usually funded through stipends.
